Why I built Yaak after creating Insomnia

I created Insomnia in 2014 and sold it in 2019. Starting over with Yaak meant rethinking both the app and the business behind it.

Insomnia’s business model centered on cloud sync. I wanted Yaak to work fully offline, without an account or hosted workspace service. Charging for commercial use makes that sustainable: the app itself is what people pay for. My incentive is to make it useful enough to earn its keep, without moving more features behind a paywall.

Yaak Business costs $149/user/year ($1,490/year for 10 seats). SSO and provisioning are included. Cancel your subscription and keep using your current version for commercial use, forever. An active subscription includes updates, support, and the flexibility to add or reassign seats.
