[DATALOSS] Folder Variables are not saved / synced to files by default
Improvement
When I create a folder and go to the folder settings, add variables and then commit the changes, they do not appear in the files and so are unusable when synced to git.
Edit: One has to manually click on the “private” labeled button to switch it to “shared”. As written in the comment it would be good to have a warning/hint at least in the commit screen, that there are “private” not synced items to avoid loss.
Reproduce:
- start Yaak
- New Workspace -> Create Empty
- Give Name
- Select a sync folder (BUG here, too, if selected init Git repo it will later not be able to commit)
- Create a Folder “Folder” (default)
- Got to Folder settings –> Variables
- Create Folder Environment
- Create Var: VAR_1 Value: VAL_1
- Workspace Settings –> Settings
- Local dir sync, select the folder again
- init git repo
- commit –> select all, add text, click commit
- check files, no vars inside, copy repo to other host, open in Yaak, see folder settings contain no vars

Oh, I found you explicitly need to click on the button “private” to switch it to “Sharable”, then it get’s saved.
I would then suggest to show a hint/warning somwehere (at commit screen would also be good at least), that there are unsynchronized “private” items.
